Troubleshooting Wireless Network





More and more public places are offering wireless internet service to their customers.  Hotels, coffee shops, restaraunts, and churches are providing secure wireless connections.  When you can not connect to a wireless provider it can be a mystery.  Here are some troubleshooting tips if you are wireless computer problems.



1.  Check with location to make sure they are not having a problem.  Also check to see if they provide a disk to get on their network.

2.  Visit Network Connections (Start - All Programs - Accessories - Communications)

3.  Check the icon that says Wireless Network Connection. 

    A.  If there is a red X then righ click to disable.  Then after it is disabled enable it again.

    B.  If it is greyed out then enable it.

4.  Make sure you have a strong radio connection.  If it is weak this could be your problem.  Try to move closer to the router.

5. Try rebooting and see if it can establish a connection.




Troubleshooting a wireless network is the process of elimination.  Every network is different.  Network computer problems are really frusterating.  But use the process of elimination and narrow down the root cause of why you are not able to connect to the network.
